One of the most accomplished and interesting water women in Hawaii's history, Kanesa is best known as a world paddleboard champion, having won the prestigious 32-mile Molokai to Oahu race a stunning 8 times. She is also a talented surfer, bodysurfer, and bodyboarder.
When she isn't riding the ocean, Kanesa is still immersed in it as the University of Hawai'i's Sea Grant College Program Director, heading up the Center for Marine Science Education. The center is dedicated to building partnerships that enhance marine science education at all levels in order to foster understanding of the natural world and the role of humans in it.
