Offering an exciting sneak preview of Film of Life, the new album from Tony Allen due for release next October on JazzVillage, the poignant ballad "Go Back" was written with Damon Albarn, who features on vocals and keyboards. Set to a sensual and hypnotic beat, the two musicians have created a homage to the African refugees who ended up on the Italian island of Lampedusa. This is a dazzling new masterpiece to add to the collective adventures of the brilliant English jack-of-all-trades and the cult Nigerian drummer, whose paths first crossed over ten years ago for the album Homecooking, followed by The Good, the Bad and the Queen and Africa Express.
En avant-première de "Film of Life", le nouvel album de Tony Allen dont la parution est prévue en octobre prochain sur JazzVillage, voici "Go Back", une ballade poignante écrite et composée avec Damon Albarn, invité ici au chant et aux claviers. Sur une trame rythmique sensuelle et hypnotique, les deux musiciens l'ont réalisée en hommage aux réfugiés d'Afrique qui échouent sur l'île de Lampedusa au large de l'Italie. Un nouveau joyau dans les aventures communes du génial touche-à-tout anglais et du batteur culte de Lagos, qui ont démarré il y a plus de dix ans avec l'album "Homecooking" et se sont poursuivies avec The Good, the Bad and the Queen et Africa Express.
