Peter Le Couteur (PLC) is an English singer-songwriter living in Prague, whose jazz-influenced, high intensity anti-folk has been described as "a cross between Tom Waits and Bertie Wooster". With songs about tragic Greek myths, 1970s cults, and 19th Century whaling, PLC is known for his dark, wry lyrics, three octave vocal range, and heavily syncopated, self-taught piano style. Drawing on influences from Art Rock, Baroque Pop, Dixieland, Cabaret, and traditional Irish, Australian and American folksongs, PLC's music is polyphonic, complex, and driven by narrative. With vocals ranging from deep blues baritone to clear treble notes, PLC's training as a choirboy is easy to hear; he was part of the New London Children's Choir, singing in famous venues like the Barbican and the Royal Albert Hall.
