PRESENTED BY LAYLA ANNA-LEE
Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Liz Williams, a Canadian born Singer/Songwriter from Toronto. I left Canada 8 years ago, 7 of which I have been in London how the time has flown! I left home searching for adventure, I was longing to experience life in a different way through exciting new places; I also went to find myself. In London I found my feet, made a home and worked on honing my craft as an artist. An excerpt from the beginning
From the time I was knee high I loved music. I used to tap the rhythm of my childhood songs and get people to guess what it was. I first picked up a guitar when I was 5, later taking up piano and dabbling in violin, flute and djembe (percussion). I started vocal training classically at the age of 12 and later joined the Canadian Childrens Opera Chorus Emersion in performance and getting to know my voice spurred my passion for sharing music, and encouraged my inclination towards the stage. My song writing began at the angsty age of 13, writing on the piano initially. To broaden my understanding of song writing I took up a course at Humber College at 17.
Here in London, I finished a BA in Music Technology (LCMM) so that I could produce myself this inspired 2 EPs; Look At Me Now (2006) & Pick Pocket(2008). Side projects have included session singing that features on various tracks by Marie Miller and Nebraska, which I also assisted in arranging. I also recorded, engineered and produced Graham Alcotts 2008 EP Spring/Summer as well as doing live recording work for Gary Dunne (2006).
