G-Eazy played the first in a run of three sold-out shows he will perform this week at Terminal 5 in New York, last night. T5 holds an audience of 3,000 people, which is about 100 times the audience he was playing to when he started touring.
"This has grown over the last six years," the ascendant Bay Area rapper recalled during a recent sit down with The FADER. "We really would go out anywhere that would book us, even a coffee shop or hole in the wall, whatever. If 20, 30 people came, that was a great night."
And though he has accumulated his fair share of success over the years—opening for Drake and Lil Wayne in 2014; notching collaborations with Bay Area greats E-40 and Too $hort; landing not one, but two albums in the top ten—he wasn't bashful when it came to discussing this latest win.
