PRESENTED BY PAULINE FREEMAN
Basque country born, Dublin based multi talented "Erik Noon" and Guitar Bandito "Frankly" are just what World Music in Ireland needed. A fresh new sound inspired from a Mix of Alternative, Traditional, Reggae, soul....... nothing stops them, not even languages as Songs go from English to Spanish or French and Basque. The pair also feature as MC's with The Txaranga sound system, "we never make enough music!" as they say.
Erik Noon's musical roots are deep in the Basque, Spanish and French alternative music of the 80's and 90's with Band such as Cojon Prieto, Kortatu, Lapoya Record, Cicatriz, Kontuz Hi, Cojon Prieto, Potato, les Sheriffs, Parabelum, Mano Negra, Ludwig Von 88, VRP, Berurier Noir....... and many others. He spent his early year around the alternative scene of Irun(mosku), Donostia and all the exitement of the birth of Alternative basque music.
A few years in the south Pacific with the Maoris, opened a new musical door that Erik took learning the Traditions and customs of Tahitian people and the traditional instrument the Ukulele. South America was next on the list and got him a taste of the real life on the road. Music was allways at the agenda and the guitar and Chanrango never to far away.
Already very active on the Dublin scene, Erik Noon and Frankly together with the Txaranga Sound system, have given a taste of a New development in Irish and multicultural music.
