PRESENTED BY TOM MILLETT
I caught the music bug aged 10 thanks to being brought against my will to a Queen concert in the RDS in Dublin. Something about the energy on show that night blew my mind and set a chain of events in motions that resulted in me finally picking up a guitar when I reached 15.
Guitaring was not a means to an end in itself, I wanted to get writing straight away and tap in to that energy rush that I got from listening. My first efforts were pretty dodgy, and it took a while before I could produce anything that I wanted to let anyone hear. In the end, looking back, maybe I should have kept them to myself a bit longer :) When I think of the early attempts the phrase 'learning curve' comes to mind, but that's what being young was all about for me - looking stupid but getting over it.
So to cut a long story short I quit school and took to the road - literally - busking around Ireland & falling in and out with a lot of similarly minded people along the way.
Yada yada yada & here I am today.. still going and still remembering what it felt like to be that dumb kid, gob-smacked by the realization that in this otherwise hardened world you can sing your heart out & it sometimes makes people happiest of all.
