Capelle was formed in 2006 by Australian native, London resident Nic Capelle. And it all happened by a stroke of good luck. Having newly arrived in London Nic entered a track 'Looking in a Mirror' in the O2 Undiscovered competition. He promptly forgot about it and a month later was told he had made final selection as the wild card entry. And although he didn't win the competition it was the catalyst for propelling him from being a producer into a live rock electro band.
Since then the line-up of musicians has been on an album-by-album basis. This allows Nic to choose the best people for live performances or album's that he's working on.
The band's first album 'Money now, Money How, Money When' was released in 2008. It's an eclectic mix of sounds with an accomplished production polish. It was all recorded in a South London Victorian terrace house and produced by Nic.
Their Second album 'Crooked Deluxe' is due for mainstream release in 2012. It features a hidden remix of the album's single 'Muscle Car'. This album hangs together more succinctly than the first and sees a maturity in Nic's song-writing and a return to a slightly grittier production value. It was also recorded in Nic's house in London.
In 2011 the band embarked on their first US Tour and filmed a documentary of their epic journey across America in a rented RV. Starting in LA they drove across the country to New York, stopping everywhere in-between. They explored the roots of their sound as they went and jammed with some incredible artists. Through the documentary gave a very raw and honest insight into the touring process and just how tough it is to make it in the music business. The documentary Capelle 'All Roads Lead To America' is due for release in March 2012.
Live the band has a powerful energy and their set list takes the audience on a journey from rock through to electro. Highlights off the upcoming album are Muscle Car, Louder, Selfish Fools and Memory.
It's a big live sound most at home on larger stages, but equally exciting and energetic on smaller intimate stages too. Nic's vocal delivery and range is unique and impressive, with a healthy dose of machismo, he's an engaging performer to watch.
