PRESENTED BY LAYLA ANNA-LEE
Originally heavily influenced by fingerpicking guitar works of John Williams, Ralph Towner and melodic composition of Yul Anderson, who frequently played in Copenhagen city centre. It wasnt until 2008 she started experimenting with integrating percussive techniques after witnessing the posibilities in levels of texture created by Thomas Leeb, Erik Mongrain, Kaki King and Newton Faulkner.
As her debut album Paint Your Sound demonstrates: It is all about using the guitar as an illustrative tool.
I wanted to stretch the instrument further than conventional uses and bring out its subtle/hidden textures. It began about a year ago with Sandstorm - when I first started playing around with the tappy-tapping
Each tune has a much greater meaning, representing a story, some people have words, some paint pictures with sound.
