PRESENTED BY GABRIELA GASTELUMENDI
Antiheroe was born in early 2012 as a solo project of Mario Acuña (currently drummer in Cecimonster vs Donka and Na’ Que Ver), and formerly member of other recognized bands in Lima’s underground scene (Luis Guzman, The Muertos, Santa Cachucha).
The idea for this project started in mid-2011 after the split-up of The Muertos, where Mario started writing songs with alternative rock, grunge and his punkrock roots as main influences. After several months creating some compositions, he decided to make a first EP with 6 songs to show his music.
In the first months of 2012 he recorded his first production, the "Nacer, Crecer, Morir" EP. A curious fact of this project is that Mario is the only member because he composed and recorded all instruments and voices, simulating a full band. This EP was well received because it’s the first album where Mario left his drummer position to become the guitarrist and lead singer, and can be listened to from another perspective.
In the middle of 2013 he released his second album titled "Veinticuatro", with 6 new songs he was working since the launch of the previous material and with a similar style to the first EP. In the next months he was in process of writing new songs for a third EP but this time with a quieter mood and deeper lyrics being influenced by acoustic bands and artists. This EP called "Espero Que", came out in early 2015 and has five original songs and a cover of Dashboard Confessional.
