The Amazing Spider-Man est l’histoire de Peter Parker (Andrew Garfield), un lycéen reclus qui a été abandonné par ses parents étant enfant et élevé par son Oncle Ben (Martin Sheen) et sa Tante May (Sally Field). Comme la plupart des adolescents, Peter essaye de comprendre qui il est. Peter essaye de se rapprocher de son premier béguin, Gwen Stacy (Emma Stone). Quand Peter découvre une mystérieuse mallette qui appartenait à son père, il commence une quête pour comprendre la disparition de ses parents, ce qui le conduit directement chez Oscorp et le laboratoire du Dr Curt Connors (Rhys Ifans), l’ancien partenaire de son père. Comme Spider-Man se positionnera sur le chemin de l’alter ego de Connors, le Lézard, Peter devra faire des choix qui changeront sa vie pour utiliser ses pouvoirs et transformer son destin pour devenir un héros.
