DAY 2: SEA AND OPORTO Visit to the Factory Conservas Artesanais Pinhais. Founded in 1920 by four partners, Pinhais & Cia has grown over a century, remaining faithful to a traditional method of production that guarantees the highest quality and flavor of its products. Visit one of the best ocean knowledge and sustainability places in the world, CIIMAR (Interdisciplinary Centre for Marine and Environmental Research) values the relationship with the sea. This temple of education, science and innovation set discover the Portuguese history and relation with the ocean as well as ongoing projects regarding the sea economy with live monitoring by international scientists, researchers, and chefs as Vasco Coelho Santos, from Euskalduna restaurant, One Star in the MICHELIN Guide Portugal 2023, which is always engaging the scientific knowledge to its gastronomic concepts and kitchen. Casa de Chá da Boa Nova - "Sea at the table” This architectural work is one of the most striking buildings of the so-called organic architecture. It has been classified as a National Monument since 2011. The uniqueness of the building that houses the restaurant is a paradigm of the insertion of architecture in the landscape and is the result of the architectural genius of Pritzker Siza Vieira. At the Casa de Chá da Boa Nova, Two Stars in the MICHELIN Guide Portugal 2023 restaurant, the renowned Chef Rui Paula provides a truly wonderful culinary experience. Honouring this central element of conviviality and sharing, they present an open plan kitchen, with a clear view of all the action, where the unmistakable aroma of the dishes cooked in the wood-burning cooker and oven conveys a unique identity. Bomfim 1896 with Pedro Lemos reflects the region's heritage and gastronomy brought together with the wines of Symington Family Estates. Restaurante Pedro Lemos, One MICHELIN Star in the 2023 Edition, is an interesting choice both in terms of its cuisine and its location in Foz do Douro, where the waters of the Douro meet those of the Atlantic. Quinta do Ventozelo: By the hands of Chef Diogo Rocha, Executive Chef of the Mesa de Lemos restaurante, One Star and a MICHELIN Green Star in the 2023 Edition, we lived a gastronomic experience of excellence, incorporating products gathered at the farm. His cuisine, traditionally based on local ingredients, shows total respect for individual flavours and finely tuned techniques.
